When Was CBT 2 Conducted?

The second-stage Computer Based Test was conducted on July 2, 2026. The official Railway Recruitment Board schedule had announced July 2 as the CBT-II examination date for JE, DMS and CMA recruitment under CEN 05/2025. Candidates reaching this stage had already qualified through the first-stage CBT, whose results were announced on May 13.

The second Computer Based Test was designed to assess candidates at a more advanced level before shortlisting them for the final verification stages of recruitment. According to the examination pattern reported by Hindustan Times, candidates received 120 minutes to answer 150 objective-type questions.

What Was Asked in the CBT 2 Exam?

The CBT 2 paper included questions from several technical and general subjects. These included:

  • General Awareness
  • Physics and Chemistry
  • Basics of Computers and Applications
  • Basics of Environment and Pollution Control
  • Technical abilities related to the candidate's discipline

The test consisted of objective-type multiple-choice questions.

The technical section is particularly important in the recruitment process because candidates are being selected for engineering and other specialised roles within Indian Railways.

The Railway Recruitment Board had also released the CBT-II questions, candidate responses and answer keys in July and provided candidates with an opportunity to raise objections.

What Happens After the RRB JE CBT 2 Result?

Candidates shortlisted after CBT 2 will proceed to Document Verification. At this stage, candidates are generally required to produce original educational, identity, category and other eligibility documents specified in the recruitment notification. Two sets of photocopies may also be required according to the instructions issued for the verification process. The next stage is the medical examination. Selection does not become final simply because a candidate has cleared the written examinations. Candidates must also satisfy the eligibility, document and medical requirements applicable to the post.

The schedule for Document Verification is expected to be published separately by the relevant regional RRBs. Candidates should therefore continue checking the same official portal even after downloading their result.

RRB JE Recruitment 2026: How Many Vacancies Are Available?

The official CEN 05/2025 notification lists 2,569 vacancies across all participating RRBs. The recruitment includes the following posts:

  • Junior Engineer
  • Depot Material Superintendent
  • Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant

These positions fall under Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission framework, with an initial pay of ₹35,400 according to the official recruitment notice. Vacancies are distributed among different Railway Recruitment Boards, railway zones, engineering disciplines and categories. This means candidates should refer to the result and cut-off issued by their own regional RRB rather than relying on the cut-off of another zone.

Where Can Candidates Check the Result?

There is no need to depend on unofficial result portals. Candidates should visit the website of the Railway Recruitment Board selected during the application process and look for CEN 05/2025. Official RRB pages identify the recruitment as covering JE, DMS and CMA posts and maintain individual sections for notices, results and cut-offs. Applicants should avoid entering registration numbers, dates of birth or passwords on unverified websites. This is particularly important around major recruitment results because fake scorecard links and job scams may circulate online.

What Details Should You Check on Your Scorecard?

After accessing the result, candidates should verify details such as:

  • Registration or roll number
  • Candidate details
  • Marks obtained
  • Normalised score, where displayed
  • Qualifying status
  • Relevant post or category
  • Instructions for the next stage

Any discrepancy should be reported through the official contact details or helpdesk of the candidate's regional RRB. Candidates shortlisted for verification should also begin arranging their original certificates rather than waiting for the DV call letter.
