Gold Rate Today, October 30: Gold and Silver Prices Fall as US Inflation Fears Grow

Gold and silver fall as US inflation rattles markets.

Gold prices weakened in India on Friday, October 30, 2026, after stronger US inflation figures increased expectations of higher interest rates. The Gold Rate Today in a widely followed retail tracker was ₹14,226 per gram for 24-carat gold, ₹169 below Thursday's quotation. Silver Prices also eased, with one retail tracker showing ₹2,10,000 per kilogram.

The figures need context. Retail jewellery quotations, official trade benchmarks and MCX futures reflect different prices. A falling exchange contract does not mean every jeweller will quote the same amount, and none of these intraday values should be described as a guaranteed closing price.

News Gold Rate Today and Silver Prices: October 30 Rates at a Glance

The following retail figures come from Goodreturns, as reproduced by The Indian Express at 10:15 AM, and HDFC Sky's 11:23 AM silver report.

Purity or metalIndicative priceChange from October 29
24K gold₹14,226 per gramDown ₹169
22K gold₹13,040 per gramDown ₹155
18K gold₹10,669 per gramDown ₹127
Silver, retail tracker₹2,10,000 per kgDown ₹5,000

Silver Prices in that retail series fell ₹50 per 10 grams, or about 2.3%, not 3.5%. The separate 3.5% decline commonly reported in coverage concerns international spot silver during Thursday's session. Comparing them as though they were identical markets would be misleading.

Gold Price India Today: City-Wise Retail Quotes

A search for "Gold price India today" can display different rates depending on the city and the provider. In The Indian Express's October 30 compilation, Delhi was ₹15 per gram higher than Mumbai for 24K gold.

City24K gold per gram22K gold per gram
Delhi₹14,241₹13,055
Mumbai₹14,226₹13,040
Kolkata₹14,226₹13,040
Chennai₹14,226₹13,040
Bengaluru₹14,226₹13,040
Hyderabad₹14,226₹13,040

These are indicative published retail figures, excluding a store's making charges and applicable taxes. Confirm the live quotation and invoice with your chosen seller.

24 Carat Gold Rate, 22K Gold Price and 18 Carat Gold Prices

The 24 carat gold rate generally refers to near-pure gold, commonly used for investment bars and coins. The 22K gold price reflects a lower purity, usually 91.6%, and is frequently relevant for jewellery. The 18 carat gold prices apply to jewellery containing about 75% gold by weight, with the rest made up of alloy metals. Differences in design, gemstone weight and labour can make a finished ornament cost more than the metal value implied by its purity. A ₹169-per-gram drop in the quoted 24K retail series translates to ₹1,690 per 10 grams. It does not mean all jewellery bills will fall by that amount because the selling price includes other charges.

IBJA Benchmark Versus MCX Futures: Why the Numbers Don't Match

The India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) published its October 30 morning benchmark at ₹1,40,891 per 10 grams for 999-fine gold, ₹1,29,056 for 916-fine gold and ₹1,83,800 per kilogram for 999-fine silver.

IBJA benchmarkOctober 29 AMOctober 30 AM
Gold 999, per 10g₹1,42,144₹1,40,891
Gold 916, per 10g₹1,30,204₹1,29,056
Silver 999, per kg₹1,90,497₹1,83,800

These benchmark rates exclude 3% GST and making charges.

By comparison, Business Standard reported that December MCX gold futures traded near ₹1,41,792 per 10 grams around 11:12 AM, down ₹804 from their previous close. December silver futures were around ₹1,86,745 per kilogram, down ₹2,708. Those contracts are traded instruments for future delivery, not the cash price a jewellery buyer necessarily pays. The silver quotations from Goodreturns and IBJA differed by ₹26,200 per kilogram in the cited morning snapshots. Tax, dealer margins, geography, quotation methodology and timing may all contribute; the full difference cannot be attributed to one factor without a comparable invoice.

Why Precious Metals Fell: US Inflation and Interest Rates

The US Bureau of Economic Analysis reported that September's Personal Consumption Expenditures price index rose 0.5% from August, up from 0.3% the previous month. Annual PCE inflation reached 3.6%. Those readings strengthened market expectations that the Federal Reserve might raise rates in December, rather than cut them. Higher yields generally raise the opportunity cost of holding non-interest-paying precious metals. Reuters reported spot gold near $3,982.85 an ounce and spot silver near $50.74 in its October 30 morning snapshot, both down.

India Crude Oil Prices: Why Energy Matters to Gold

Readers following India crude oil prices should note another indirect pressure: higher global oil costs can lift inflation expectations, influencing the likely path of US rates and the dollar. Reuters reported Brent futures rising amid Strait of Hormuz supply concerns on October 30. That does not mean the price of crude mechanically determines bullion rates in India. Rupee movements, import duties, investment demand and local jewellery premiums also matter.

What Buyers Should Check Before Purchasing

If you are browsing "news Gold Rate Today" search results, check each report's publication time, quoted unit and price category. ₹14,226 per gram is not the same as ₹14,226 per 10 grams; a mislabelled table can create a tenfold error. Ask the jeweller for the purity, weight, making charges, tax and total payable amount. For hallmarked jewellery, the Bureau of Indian Standards' BIS Care app allows buyers to verify the HUID code.

The Gold Rate Today and Silver Prices figures could move again before trading closes, and a shop may update its board at a different time. Buyers should compare like-for-like quotes and avoid treating an intraday decline as a prediction of tomorrow's price.
