The LPG cylinder price in Delhi for a 19-kg commercial refill has fallen from ₹2,930 to ₹2,738. This follows a ₹183.50 reduction on July 1, when the Delhi rate dropped from ₹3,113.50 to ₹2,930. Compared with the June rate, a commercial cylinder is now ₹375.50 cheaper.

Hindustan Times’ headline describes the Delhi reduction as ₹202. However, the prices stated in the report produce a ₹192 difference. GoodReturns also lists the August reduction as ₹192.

LPG Gas Price in Kolkata

The revised LPG gas price in Kolkata is ₹2,872.50 for a 19-kg commercial cylinder. Kolkata’s July rate was ₹3,081.50, which means the August reduction is ₹209. The Hindustan Times report rounds the revised rate to ₹2,872, while the detailed rate table lists ₹2,872.50. There is therefore no need to present the Kolkata price as an unconfirmed range.

Mumbai has the lowest commercial LPG rate among the four main metros listed, while Chennai has the highest.

Who benefits, and who doesn't

The cut is specific to commercial LPG gas, the 19-kg cylinder used by restaurants, hotels, caterers and other businesses. Domestic LPG cylinder prices, the 14.2-kg ones used in most homes, were left unchanged in this revision, per CNBC TV18. So household cooking gas bills stay the same this month; only commercial kitchens see the relief.

For hotels and restaurants running tight margins, even a cut of ₹190 to ₹210 per cylinder adds up over a month of daily use, especially for high-volume kitchens that go through several refills.  However, the cut does not necessarily mean restaurants will immediately reduce menu prices because cooking fuel is only one part of their overall cost structure.

Why LPG Cylinder Prices Differ Across Cities

The commercial LPG cylinder price is not the same across India because transport costs, local taxes, dealer commissions and distribution expenses vary by location. Cities located closer to supply and storage centres may record lower rates, while longer transportation routes can push the final cylinder price higher. This is why businesses should check the applicable city rate instead of relying on a national average.
