Buying watches gets surprisingly complicated once you move beyond simply asking what looks good. Do you want something elegant enough for the office? A rugged piece you can wear without worrying about rain or travel? A designer accessory that works almost like jewellery? Or a Swiss-made watch you plan to keep for years? A recent Hindustan Times hands-on comparison put four very different names into that conversation: Titan, Michael Kors, Casio G-Shock and Victorinox.

They are not direct competitors in the traditional sense. A Titan watch can offer polished everyday styling below ₹10,000. A Michael Kors watch leans heavily into fashion. A Casio G-Shock is built around durability, while a Victorinox watch pushes into Swiss-made premium territory. That makes the comparison more useful than simply asking which brand is “best”.

Why These Four Watches Are So Different

The first thing buyers should understand is that price alone does not explain the difference between them. The four brands approach the wrist from different directions. Titan focuses heavily on accessible design, gifting and everyday wear. Michael Kors treats the watch as part timepiece, part fashion accessory. G-Shock is known for impact resistance, water resistance and a sporty personality.

Victorinox combines Swiss-made construction with a more premium positioning. That is why choosing among the best watches means deciding what matters most: design, durability, brand image, technical build or price.

Titan Watch: Best for Everyday Value

Titan remains one of the easiest brands to recommend to Indian buyers because its watches generally balance price, reliability and design without moving into luxury-level pricing.

In an earlier Hindustan Times hands-on review, the Titan Glamour Quartz Blue Dial was priced at ₹8,395, while the Titan Eternal Off-White Dial came in at ₹10,895. The Glamour stood out for its deep blue dial, rose-gold detailing and jewellery-style bracelet, while the Eternal used an off-white mother-of-pearl dial and a more understated design. Both use quartz movements and come with a 24-month warranty.

That is Titan's biggest strength. You can get something that looks considerably more expensive than its price without paying primarily for an international fashion logo or Swiss manufacturing.

What works

  • Strong value for money
  • Easy servicing in India
  • Wide variety of styles
  • Suitable for office and occasion wear
  • Trusted domestic brand

Where it falls behind

Materials and movements generally remain more mainstream than what you get when moving into significantly more expensive Swiss watches.

For most buyers, however, that is not necessarily a problem.

If the goal is a stylish everyday watch rather than horological prestige, Titan remains one of the safest options.

Michael Kors Watch: Best If Style Comes First

The Michael Kors watch sits in a different category. Hindustan Times previously tested the Petite Lexington Tiger's Eye, priced at ₹16,495, and described it more as a fashion accessory than a piece aimed at serious mechanical-watch enthusiasts.

Its standout feature is a genuine tiger's-eye dial with natural brown and golden tones. The polished gold-tone bracelet and fluted bezel make it look closer to jewellery than a conventional everyday watch. It uses:

  • Quartz movement
  • Mineral crystal
  • A lightweight bracelet
  • A petite dial

That makes it easy to wear for office meetings, brunches or evening plans.

But you are primarily paying for styling, designer branding and the distinctive dial rather than advanced watchmaking. That is not necessarily a criticism. Some buyers want exactly that. If your priority is a statement accessory that happens to tell time, Michael Kors makes more sense than buying a technical sports watch.

Casio G-Shock: The Most Practical Choice

Few watches in this group are as easy to understand as the Casio G-Shock. The Coca-Cola x G-Shock GA-2100CC-3A reviewed by Hindustan Times combines G-Shock's rugged GA-2100 platform with a limited-edition Coca-Cola design.

Casio lists the model at ₹14,995 in India. It weighs just 51 grams, uses a Carbon Core Guard structure and provides 200-metre water resistance and shock resistance. That combination gives it something the fashion-focused options cannot easily match:

you do not have to baby it.

It can handle:

  • Rain
  • Workouts
  • Travel
  • Beach trips
  • Daily commuting
  • Rougher casual use

The collaboration also brings Coca-Cola-inspired details, including bottle and bubble references, making it more collectible than a standard model.

What makes G-Shock stand out

At roughly ₹15,000, it offers functionality and durability rather than luxury materials. You get shock resistance and 200-metre water resistance for considerably less than the Swiss option.

For someone who wants one casual watch that can take abuse, this may actually be the most sensible purchase of the four. The trade-off is obvious: its sporty resin design will not work with formal clothing as naturally as Titan, Michael Kors or Victorinox.

Victorinox Watch: The Premium Step-Up

The largest price jump comes with the Victorinox watch. Hindustan Times previously tested the Victorinox I.N.O.X. Small, a Swiss-made 32mm quartz watch with a black dial and stainless-steel bracelet. Its listed price was ₹66,600. That puts it in an entirely different bracket from the other three. The I.N.O.X. Small offers:

  • Swiss quartz movement
  • Stainless-steel construction
  • 100-metre water resistance
  • Premium finishing
  • Lightweight wear despite the steel build
  • A more timeless design

HT's testing found it comfortable enough for daily wear while still feeling substantial and premium. This is where the discussion around the best luxury watch for men or women needs some nuance. The specific I.N.O.X. Small reviewed is a women's model. Victorinox does, however, offer men's automatic and larger I.N.O.X. options in considerably higher price brackets, including men's Swiss automatic models listed above ₹80,000.

So if someone is specifically searching for the best luxury watch for men, the broader Victorinox range is more relevant than this particular 32mm model.

Titan vs Michael Kors vs G-Shock vs Victorinox

The comparison becomes much clearer when each is judged on what it is actually designed to do.

WatchApprox. priceStrongest pointBest suited for
Titan₹8,000–₹11,000 in tested examplesValue + eleganceDaily/office wear
Michael Kors₹16,495Fashion and jewellery appealStyling/occasion wear
G-Shock₹14,995DurabilityCasual, travel, outdoor
Victorinox₹66,600Swiss build + premium feelLong-term premium ownership

This is why declaring one universal winner can be misleading. They solve four different problems.

Which Is the Best Watch for Daily Wear?

For most Indian buyers, Titan probably offers the easiest balance. It is polished enough for work, affordable enough that you do not have to worry constantly about damaging it, and available in a wide range of designs. The brand's quartz models also keep ownership simple. If everyday use involves more travel, sports or outdoor activity, G-Shock becomes the stronger choice. The 200-metre water resistance and shock-resistant build put it comfortably ahead for rough usage.

Which Is Best for Fashion?

Michael Kors wins this category. The Petite Lexington's tiger's-eye dial gives it a visual character the others do not really attempt. HT's hands-on review also found the model lightweight and comfortable enough for long wear despite its jewellery-like appearance. It is designed to complement an outfit rather than disappear into the background. Titan's Glamour and Eternal collections provide a similar jewellery-watch idea at a lower price, making them more value-focused alternatives.

Which Feels the Most Premium?

Victorinox. Its Swiss-made positioning, stainless-steel construction and finishing put it above the others in terms of traditional premium-watch appeal. But this is also where value becomes subjective. At ₹66,600, it costs several times what a Titan or G-Shock does. HT's earlier review reached essentially the same tension: the I.N.O.X. Small impressed on quality and comfort, but its price could make buyers hesitate. You are paying partly for construction and partly for Swiss heritage.

Is a More Expensive Watch Automatically Better?

No. A ₹66,000 watch does not make more sense for everyone than a ₹10,000 one. The right comparison is not simply:

Which watch costs the most?

It is:

Which watch best matches how I will actually wear it? Someone who spends weekends trekking may get more value from a G-Shock. Someone who wears formal clothing every day may use a Titan far more often.

Someone primarily interested in fashion may prefer Michael Kors. And someone specifically looking for Swiss craftsmanship and a long-term premium piece may justify spending more on Victorinox.
