This ambitious initiative aims to encourage consumers across the nation to request bills for all their purchases as a fundamental right. According to a press release by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the scheme became active at the stroke of midnight on September 1, 2023, and has already gained momentum, with more than 1.51 lakh downloads of the associated app and active participation from consumers.

Benefits for Consumers

One of the key highlights of the Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar scheme is the exciting rewards it offers to consumers. Under this scheme, consumers have the opportunity to win rewards of up to one crore rupees. To be eligible for these rewards, customers must upload their bills to the Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar app or the merabill.gst.gov.in web portal.

 

How to Participate

Participating in the scheme is simple and straightforward. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Visit the official website of Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar at https://web.merabill.gst.gov.in/login, or use the dedicated app on your smartphone.

Step 2: Enter your 10-digit registered mobile number.

Step 3: Provide your basic information, including your name, mobile number, and state. Don't forget to click on the 'accept terms and conditions' box.

Step 4: Upload your GST bill to proceed further.

Step 5: Ensure that the invoice you upload includes essential details such as the GSTIN of the seller, invoice number, amount paid, and tax amount.

Step 6: Once you have completed the process, click on submit.

 

It's important to note that each person can upload a maximum of 25 invoices per month to be considered for the lucky draw.

Reward Structure

The Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar scheme allocates a corpus of ₹30 crore annually towards the reward fund. Every quarter, two consumers will have the chance to win ₹1 crore each through a lucky draw. This means there will be a total of eight such awards of ₹1 crore in a year. Additionally, every month, the government will select 10 winners who will receive ₹1 lakh each, and 80 winners who will receive ₹10,000 each.

 

Furthermore, on a monthly basis, 800 individuals will be chosen to receive ₹10,000 as an incentive. Two lucky winners will also have the opportunity to win a whopping one crore rupees in the Bumper Draw. This experimental program is set to run for one year, creating numerous opportunities for consumers to benefit.

Accessibility and Eligibility

To ensure broad access, the Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar scheme is available on both iOS and Android platforms. Importantly, all invoices issued to consumers by Goods and Services Tax (GST) registered suppliers are eligible for participation in this initiative.
