Motorola has offered the first detailed look at the Motorola Signature 27, its next ultra-premium smartphone and the second model in the company’s Signature family. Unveiled during Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit 2026, the phone is among the first devices announced with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. Motorola is also putting significant emphasis on photography, pairing a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 primary camera with a massive 200MP periscope telephoto sensor.

The device will also introduce a new Motorola naming system. Instead of following the conventional numbered generation used by many smartphone brands, the Signature line will now use the final two digits of the upcoming year. That explains the “27” name even though the phone has been previewed in 2026. There is one important limitation, however: Motorola has not yet announced retail pricing or a precise availability date. The company only says the new flagship is expected to reach markets worldwide later in 2026.

Motorola Signature 27: Camera, Processor and Confirmed Flagship Upgrades

The Motorola Signature 27 represents a considerable hardware step up from the first Signature phone introduced earlier this year. At its centre is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 mobile platform, a new flagship processor designed to improve on-device AI, gaming responsiveness, camera processing and connectivity. Motorola says the handset uses six antennas to improve connectivity and cloud-based AI performance. The company is positioning it as its most advanced smartphone yet.

The processor is accompanied by a redesigned thermal system because sustained flagship performance can generate significant heat. Motorola calls the cooling architecture ArcticMesh.

It combines:

• A redesigned 3D vapour chamber

The vapour chamber is 40% larger than the one used in the previous generation, according to Motorola.

200MP Periscope Camera Is the Biggest Photography Upgrade

Camera hardware is one of the strongest confirmed Motorola Signature 27 features. The main camera uses a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 sensor, while the periscope telephoto jumps to an unusually high 200MP resolution. Motorola says the telephoto system is designed for distant subjects, architecture and landscape photography. High megapixel counts alone do not guarantee better photos, of course.

Image quality will depend on sensor size, optics, processing, stabilisation and how effectively the phone handles low-light photography. Motorola is therefore also introducing a Video Enhancement Engine. The company says this AI-based system analyses scenes before and during recording and automatically adjusts colour tones in real time.  Qualcomm image stabilisation technology works alongside 3.5-degree hardware OIS, which is designed to reduce visible shake while walking, panning or recording handheld video. These camera upgrades place photography at the centre of the Motorola Signature 27 features strategy rather than treating the camera as a secondary specification.

Android 17 and Seven Years of OS Upgrades

Motorola is also making an unusually long software commitment for the new flagship. The company says the handset will receive seven OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates, although availability can vary by market, carrier and model. The phone is expected to ship with Android 17. That would put it on Google’s latest operating-system generation from launch rather than requiring an immediate update after purchase.

Long-term software support has become increasingly important in the premium Android market because buyers paying flagship prices increasingly expect devices to remain secure and usable for several years. If Motorola delivers the full commitment consistently across markets, the Android 17 handset would represent one of the company’s strongest software-support promises to date.

Gemini Omni and Lyria Bring More AI Tools

Google’s Gemini ecosystem also plays a major role in the phone’s software experience. Motorola says users will be able to interact with Gemini as an assistant for tasks such as planning activities, finding events or organising information. More interestingly, Gemini Omni can turn prompts, photographs or existing video clips into finished video content.

Google’s Lyria technology can generate original music and soundtracks.

These features indicate that Motorola is targeting generative media creation as one of the main uses for the new Snapdragon hardware. Whether all AI functions will be available in every country at launch remains to be seen. Motorola notes that Gemini availability can vary depending on device, language and region.

Motorola Signature 27 Launch: When Will It Go on Sale?

The Motorola Signature 27 launch is not yet a conventional retail launch. Motorola used Snapdragon Summit to provide a first look at the device and confirm several of its major technologies. The company has said the smartphone is expected to reach markets worldwide before the end of 2026, but it has not provided an exact date. That means consumers cannot yet pre-order or purchase the phone based solely on this announcement.

More specifications and regional details are expected closer to availability. The Motorola Signature 27 launch timeline for India is also unconfirmed. Motorola has said markets worldwide will receive the handset, but it has not separately announced an India release date or sales channel.

Motorola Signature 27 Price Has Not Been Announced

The official Motorola Signature 27 price remains unknown. Motorola has not published pricing for the US, India, Europe or other markets. Audio is another area receiving a significant upgrade. The new flagship becomes Motorola’s first smartphone to carry Audio by B&O following the company’s partnership with Bang & Olufsen. B&O branding is visible on the rear of the handset.

Motorola says the collaboration combines its mobile engineering with Bang & Olufsen’s expertise in sound and design. Detailed speaker specifications have not yet been released, so the actual audio performance will need to be assessed once production devices become available.

Two Pantone-Inspired Finishes Confirmed

Motorola has confirmed two finishes: Pantone Coal Smoke uses a woven texture inspired by automotive engineering and performance clothing. The company says it is designed to improve grip while maintaining a premium feel. Pantone Capulet Olive uses a brushed, textile-inspired surface designed to create a softer look and texture. The phone itself uses an aluminium silhouette with contoured edges. Its camera housing combines ceramic and brushed aluminium, continuing Motorola’s effort to distinguish its premium models through materials rather than relying only on internal specifications.

Is It a Motorola 5G Phone?

Yes, the new flagship is designed around Qualcomm’s latest high-end mobile platform and modern cellular connectivity. As a premium Motorola 5g phone, it is expected to support contemporary 5G networks alongside Wi-Fi and other high-speed connectivity technologies, although Motorola has not yet published a full list of supported network bands for each region. That regional detail will matter for buyers importing the handset. A Motorola 5g phone sold officially in India, for example, would need the appropriate local 5G band support and carrier certification for the best network experience. Those exact details should become available closer to commercial release.

Why Motorola Is Changing Its Signature Naming System

The naming change is deliberate. The original Motorola Signature launched earlier in 2026 without a year-style number. For future generations, Motorola says the Signature family will use the final two digits of the coming year. That makes Signature 27 the first model to follow the new convention.
