CyberLeek began releasing alleged GTA 6 footage in mid-August, with reports estimating that roughly 13 to 20 clips have circulated. The material appears to come from a playable build rather than simply recycled marketing footage. That assumption gained attention after one alleged clip showed Jason firing bullets into a wall to spell “LEEK,” seemingly demonstrating that whoever recorded it could directly control the game. Rockstar has stopped short of saying publicly that every video is genuine.

However, parent company Take-Two Interactive has taken legal steps to identify people allegedly connected to the leaks. On August 20, it sought subpoenas involving Microsoft and Discord records as part of a copyright investigation.

Here are six of the biggest alleged revelations.

1. Jason Apparently Has a Basketball Mini-Game and ‘Focus’ Ability

One the leaked clips allegedly reportedly shows Jason shooting basketball hoops outside an oceanside property. The interesting part is not simply that basketball may be playable.

According to The Week, the game's HUD appears to display a Focus meter, with successful baskets increasing Jason's Focus level. That could point to a character-specific ability system.

2. The Biggest Alleged Lucia Leak Could Reveal Her Backstory

One of the most significant alleged leaks appears to reveal previously undisclosed details about Lucia's life before the main story, including a possible family-related storyline. Rockstar has not confirmed the sequence, and it should not be treated as GTA 6 canon. That makes it especially important to treat the claim carefully. 

3. Jason’s Plane Ride May Offer the Best Look Yet at Leonida

Another leaked clip allegedly shows Jason piloting a plane across the game's open world. The footage reportedly gives viewers a sweeping look at parts of Leonida, Rockstar's fictional state inspired by Florida, while Jason cycles through several radio stations. That potentially reveals two things at once. First, aircraft appear to be part of the playable sandbox, which would hardly be surprising for a Grand Theft Auto game.

4. Strip Clubs and a Nudist Area Appear in the Leaked Footage

Several clips reportedly show adult-themed areas that fit the Grand Theft Auto series' long-established tone. One allegedly features a neon-lit strip club, while another shows Jason visiting what appears to be a nudist settlement in Leonida. The latter reportedly includes NPC reactions when Jason stares at residents, suggesting more reactive non-player-character behaviour. These clips may provide clues about how Rockstar is building environmental interactions and NPC responses.

5. A Supposed GTA 6 Leonida Map Is Already Being Disputed

One of the most widely discussed leaks purports to show a detailed map of Leonida. But this may also be one of the least reliable parts of the leak wave. The Week notes that fans have questioned whether the image really originated from a leaked game build. Some believe it may instead have been reconstructed by combining information visible in Rockstar trailers, screenshots and other officially released material. That distinction matters.

6. Tasers, Fuel and Vehicle Damage Could Make GTA 6 More Detailed

Some of the most interesting leaks concern ordinary gameplay systems rather than story spoilers. A clip reportedly shows Jason entering a facility and using what appears to be a taser.

Other footage appears to show mechanics involving copying or cloning keys, smashing vehicle windows, monitoring vehicle condition and even keeping track of fuel. Separate leaked footage from a petrol station has also been interpreted as evidence of a refuelling mechanic and more detailed vehicle damage. If those systems remain in the release build, GTA 6 could introduce considerably more simulation into driving and vehicle ownership than previous entries. But there is a major caveat with leaked development footage: features can be changed, removed or disabled before launch.

What appears in one development build is not a guarantee of what players will see on November 19.

Rockstar Finally Responds: ‘Heartbreaking for Our Team’

After remaining publicly quiet while footage spread online, Rockstar issued its first substantial response on August 26. The company said seeing GTA 6 gameplay revealed this way had been “heartbreaking for our team.” It also apologised for how long fans have waited for more information and said the process of completing the game is “nearly there.” Crucially, Rockstar did not announce another delay. The official GTA 6 release date remains November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar urged players to wait and experience the game themselves rather than have major surprises spoiled beforehand.

The studio also thanked fans who had sent messages of support.

Take-Two Is Trying to Find Who Is Behind CyberLeek

The public statement is only one part of the response. Behind the scenes, Take-Two Interactive is pursuing the source of the material. Court filings reported by The Verge, Variety and other outlets show Take-Two sought information from Microsoft and Discord connected with accounts and online communities allegedly involved in distributing the leaked material. The legal requests reportedly seek identifying records associated with suspected infringement. That means the situation has moved beyond routine copyright takedowns.

Take-Two is attempting to identify whoever obtained or distributed the footage. CyberLeek, meanwhile, has also been linked to promotion of a cryptocurrency token, adding another controversial element to the story. Rockstar itself did not name CyberLeek or discuss those legal actions in its August 26 statement.

More Footage Appeared Even After Rockstar Responded

Rockstar's statement did not immediately stop the leaks. The Verge reported that another clip appeared shortly afterward, allegedly showing Jason stealing a vehicle and attempting to escape police before Lucia appeared briefly in what looked like a cutscene. That underlines the central problem facing Rockstar. Once a playable build or a large collection of footage has escaped into the wild, removing individual uploads does not necessarily prevent copies from resurfacing elsewhere.

And with GTA 6 still almost three months away, major plot spoilers could prove much more damaging than isolated gameplay demonstrations.

Rockstar’s Official GTA 6 Extended Look Is Coming Next

The timing could hardly be more awkward. Rockstar had already planned its biggest official look at GTA 6 for August 27. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix at 3 pm ET on August 27, which is 12:30 am IST on August 28. Rockstar's official YouTube channel and GTA 6 website will receive it six hours later, at 9 pm ET, or 6:30 am IST on August 28. That presentation should give players the clearest opportunity yet to separate genuine features from speculation surrounding the leaks. It could also reveal whether any of the gameplay systems appearing in CyberLeek's footage were already scheduled to be shown officially.

GTA 6 Is Still Set for November 19

For all the chaos surrounding the GTA 6 leaks, one of the most important pieces of news is what has not changed. Rockstar still lists November 19, 2026 as the launch date.

The game is officially coming first to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and pre-orders are already open. Rockstar currently describes GTA 6 as a single-player experience centred on Jason and Lucia as they become caught in a conspiracy stretching across Leonida. The leak wave may have revealed more than Rockstar wanted fans to see. It has not, so far, produced another delay. And Rockstar's own description that development is “nearly there” is probably the most significant confirmed update to emerge from the entire episode.

Everything else—from Lucia's alleged child to detailed fuel mechanics—should remain in the category where leaks belong until Rockstar verifies them: possible, fascinating, but not yet confirmed final-game content.
