The 4th and the final Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) Meeting under India's G20 Presidency concluded in Goa on July 20, 2023. The two-day meeting was attended by over 115 delegates representing G20 member countries and nine invitee countries.

According to Union Power Secretary, Shri Pankaj Agarwal, there has been noteworthy agreement on hydrogen-related matters within the working group. The group has acknowledged India's proposal for establishing the Green Hydrogen Innovation Centre and the planned launch of the Global Biofuel Alliance by India. Additionally, there has been a substantial consensus on the importance of low-cost financing for energy transition. The Working Group has also taken note of India's voluntary action plan, aiming to double the pace of energy efficiency by the year 2030.

Under the leadership of the Indian presidency, the Energy Transitions Working Group is set to unveil 13 global studies that focus on advancing energy transitions. These studies offer valuable insights and guidance to support collective efforts in achieving transition goals. So far, eight studies have already been released, while the remaining five will be made available in the coming days. The studies cover a range of topics, including low-cost finance for energy transition, the renewable energy supply chain, the vulnerability of the supply chain for oil and gas energy sources, the role of transnational grid interconnections, the acceleration of energy efficiency, the significance of biofuels in the energy mix, global best practices for a just transition in the coal sector, and the critical role of small and modular reactors in energy transition.
