Mirzapur: The Movie is bringing the popular crime universe to cinemas on 4 September 2026. The trailer is scheduled to arrive on 11 August, giving fans their first major look at the big-screen story.

The film is especially interesting because it doesn't simply continue the events of Season 3. It goes back to 2018, before and alongside the events of Season 1, allowing familiar characters to return while exploring a new story.

Why Are Munna and Bablu Back?

This is probably the biggest question for anyone who has followed the series.

Munna Bhaiya and Bablu Pandit have very different fates in the original story. So seeing them together again could easily leave fans wondering whether the movie is rewriting the franchise's timeline.

It isn't.

The film is set in 2018, before and alongside the events of Season 1. It explores the origins of the conflict between the Tripathi and Pandit families, which means characters who later died can naturally appear in this earlier chapter. So, no resurrection theories are needed.

The movie is essentially taking audiences back to a period they know, but showing them a story they haven't seen before.

The Returning Power Players

1. Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) : The calculating kingpin remains one of the most recognisable characters in the franchise. His return immediately connects the film to the world fans know.
