YouTuber and former Bigg Boss 17 contestant Anurag Dobhal has been arrested along with three associates in Dehradun following an alleged assault involving Raj Singh Chauhan, the cousin of his estranged wife, Ritika Chauhan. The case stems from an altercation near Haridwar Bypass Road on October 5. Dehradun Police said officers reached the scene after receiving information about a fight and later detained Dobhal and three others after the confrontation allegedly continued at a police outpost. A separate criminal case has also been registered on Chauhan’s complaint. Hindustan Times
The dispute has now widened after Ritika posted a video alleging that she and members of her family had faced mistreatment in the past. She also said she fears another confrontation could occur. Those claims remain allegations and have not been established by a court.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobhal, officers from Nehru Colony police station were alerted around 10 pm about a fight near the Nexa showroom on Haridwar Bypass Road. Police said they found Dobhal and his associates allegedly assaulting Raj Singh Chauhan and moved both sides to the Bypass police outpost to prevent the situation from escalating.
The police version states that the confrontation did not end there. According to the SSP, Dobhal, Abhishek, Abhay Chaudhary and Kurbaan allegedly tried to engage Chauhan again despite instructions from officers to maintain peace. Additional personnel were called after a crowd gathered, and the four were arrested under Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Police described that arrest as a step taken to maintain public order. Chauhan was sent to Doon Hospital for medical examination, while investigators opened a separate case on the basis of his complaint.
Chauhan has made several serious allegations about the events leading up to the arrest. According to his complaint, he met Dobhal near Haridwar Bypass amid an ongoing family dispute. He alleged that Dobhal grabbed him by the neck and demanded access to his phone. NDTV
Chauhan further alleged that associates accompanying the YouTuber then assaulted him. He has claimed that an iron object was used and that he suffered injuries to his head, chest and face. He has also alleged that he was threatened and forced into or beneath a vehicle during the confrontation. These details come from Chauhan’s complaint and should not be treated as judicial findings. Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway.
The case attracted wider attention after Ritika Chauhan released a video commenting on the incident. She alleged that similar behaviour had affected her and other members of her family previously and said she feared Dobhal could target them again. In the video, she said in Hindi that she believed “he will attack again” and expressed concern for herself, her mother, her brother and her child. She also accused her estranged husband of previous mistreatment, including allegations involving her mother, her pet and past claims made about her personal relationships.
None of those broader accusations has been established in court on the basis of the material currently available. The latest incident should therefore be reported separately from her historical allegations unless investigators connect them.
Dobhal has disputed the account that he was the aggressor. According to Moneycontrol and NDTV, he has claimed that his group was attacked first and that he himself contacted emergency number 112 before submitting a written complaint to police. He has said he intends to present his version of events along with what he describes as evidence.
This creates two competing accounts. Chauhan alleges that Dobhal and others initiated the assault, while the UK07 Rider has maintained that he and those with him were attacked first. Police are now examining those versions as part of the investigation.
There is some inconsistency across news reports about the exact legal provisions applied in the case. Police have directly confirmed that the four men were arrested under Section 170 of the BNSS, which was used as a preventive measure after the alleged disturbance continued at the outpost. Separate reports citing the FIR state that the criminal case includes:
NDTV and ABP Live both report these provisions while noting that police are continuing their investigation. India Today, however, described the case more broadly as involving attempt to murder, wrongful restraint, assault and criminal intimidation. Because those descriptions do not align perfectly with the specifically reported FIR sections, the safer formulation is that Dobhal faces an FIR containing allegations of assault and threats, while the precise final charges remain subject to police investigation and any subsequent court proceedings.
Interest around the phrase “Anurag Dobhal wife” has increased again because Ritika is central to the family dispute surrounding the alleged assault. The two are estranged, according to multiple current reports, and the confrontation involved Ritika’s cousin Raj Singh Chauhan. The Anurag Dobhal wife story has now shifted from a celebrity relationship dispute into a police matter because a relative has filed a complaint and arrests have been made. That does not make every allegation exchanged between the couple part of the criminal case.
Only allegations formally reported to police and supported by evidence gathered during the investigation will determine how the case proceeds.
As of the latest reports reviewed on October 7, police and major news outlets continue to describe Dobhal and the three associates as having been arrested. No verified update confirming that he has subsequently received bail, been released or been remanded for a particular period.
That status could change quickly. The more important confirmed development is that police have registered a criminal case and are investigating the competing accounts.
Police will need to examine statements from both sides, medical records, available CCTV or mobile footage and evidence from officers who witnessed the confrontation at the outpost. Investigators may also need to establish what happened before police arrived and whether the alleged second confrontation occurred exactly as officers described.
For Anurag Dobhal, the existence of an FIR and an arrest does not establish guilt.
For Ritika Chauhan, her fear of another attack is a publicly stated concern, not evidence that another attack will occur.
And for Raj Singh Chauhan, the injuries and allegations described in his complaint are now matters for the police investigation. The case therefore remains active, with three separate strands that should not be blurred together: police allegations about the October 5 confrontation, Chauhan’s complaint about the alleged assault, and Ritika’s wider claims about earlier family disputes.
